The most interesting read-throughs are not simply “people eat less.” The evidence points to a recomposition of demand: smaller portions, smaller treats, more protein, healthier option choices, cleaner labels, more functional benefits, and more flexible formats. In several cases, management teams explicitly said indulgence is not disappearing; instead, baskets and menus are adapting.
